POLOKWANE – Two men robbed a 30-year-old man of his Volkswagen Golf 3 after posing as potential buyers on social media.

According to a statement by Police Spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe, the incident took place along Nelson Mandela Drive, between the Polokwane CBD and Seshego, on 6 July at around 16:00.

“The suspect arrived with a person he said was his brother and they requested to inspect the vehicle and later asked to test-drive it. The one man produced a firearm and demanded the victim’s cellphone,” Ngoepe said.

Ngoepe added that the man was then forced out of his moving vehicle before the suspects drove away with the vehicle, with the registration number DZG 357 L.

“The Saps Vehicle Crime Investigation Unit (VCIU) in Limpopo has launched a manhunt for the suspects. Members of the community are warned to be alert whenever they use social media for any activity, including the selling of their property, to avoid these type of incidents,” Ngoepe said.
