All systems go at 100% capacity for GNT buses

Great North Transport (GNT) says the latest regulations will help them enhance service delivery.

LIMPOPO – Great North Transport (GNT) has taken note of the latest transport sector of level 3 lockdown regulations that prescribe that public transport may operate at 100% capacity per vehicle.

The regulations were gazetted on Sunday and will be implemented effectively.

According to GNT Spokesperson, Patrick Monkoe, the new regulations presented them with an opportunity to operate at 100% capacity per bus.

“The regulations will enhance our service delivery in terms of facilitating the mobility of our passengers across the province. We have thus far alerted our managers across the 10 depots to implement the new regulations as gazetted.”

Monkoe added that they will continue to ensure that passengers who board GNT buses, comply with the mandatory application of face masks and that those buses are disinfected daily after operations to comply with the stated regulations.

He also indicated of the 75 new buses they procured in February, 20 have started commuting passengers to various destinations in the province on Monday.

“The remaining 55 will undergo roadworthy tests and once certified, will be eligible to commute passengers,” concluded Monkoe.
