In a statement on Monday, the Polokwane Municipality outlined the planned shutdowns:
On Tuesday, 14 July, water supply from the Dap Naudé Dam will be stopped to allow technicians to conduct an inspection on the pipeline. The shutdown is planned from 06:00 to 18:00.
Areas which will be affected include the central business district (CBD), Bendor, Sterpark, Flora Park and Fauna Park. High-lying parts of Nirvana will also experience low water pressure, says Municipal Spokesperson, Thipa Selala.
He added that in addition, the Greater Tzaneen Municipality issued a notice on a planned power supply switch-off to work on the refurbishment of Ebenezer 33 kilovolts (kV) line.
Selala says this shutdown will affect water supply to Polokwane from the Ebenezer Plant between 07:00 to 19:00 on the following days:
• Tuesday, 14 July;
• Thursday, 16 July;
• Sunday, 19 July and
• Saturday, 25 July.
He concluded that the municipality will provide regular updates on the shutdowns and urged residents and businesses to use water sparingly during these periods.
