Senior official quarantined after testing positive for Covid-19

POLOKWANE – A senior official at the provincial Office of the Premier is in quarantine after testing positive for Covid-19, confirmed the provincial government in a statement on Saturday, 11 July.
The official is based at the offices on the corner of Grobler and Church streets and all who were in contact with him have been traced and are in self isolation until all health protocols are completed, said Spokesperson for the Premier, Kenny Mathivha.
“All offices of the Premier at Grobler and Church street have been isolated and internal communications shall prevail.”
Mathivha added that this is the second case reported in the Office of Premier. “Three months ago a police official reported positive while manning a guard room. At the time the office was disinfected and sanitised,” he explained.

Since the outbreak the Office of the Premier has been working on a minimal staff approach.
In the statement, the premier once again called on communities not to stigmatise those infected with the virus. “Let us support each other. Together we can beat this virus,” he concluded.
