Limpopo records 144 new Covid-19 cases; 14 new deaths

The number of confirmed Covid-19 cases stands at 1 720 with a recovery rate of 38%.

LIMPOPO – The Department of Health in the province says 14 Covid-19 related deaths were reported in the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 27.

Of the 14 new deaths, five were reported in Polokwane, two in Makhuduthmaga, and one each in the Blouberg, Fetakgomo Tubatse, Makhado, Musina, Thulamela, Bela Bela and Mookgophong municipalities, respectively.

The department confirmed that 144 new cases of Covid-19 were also reported in the last 24 hours, with Waterberg municipality recorded the most cases, of which 27 were recorded in Thabazimbi, seven in Bela Bela, three in Mogalawena, two in Lephalale and one in Modimolle-Mookgophong.

Sekhukhune had the second most cases, with 20 recorded in Fetakgomo Tubatse, 10 in Elias Motsoaledi and seven in Makhuduthamaga.

In the Capricorn district, 22 new cases were reported in Polokwane, four in Lepelle-Nkumpi and one each in Blouberg and Molemole.

The Vhembe district saw 25 new cases, 11 in Thulamela, seven in Collins Chabane, six in Makhado and one in Musina.

Giyani recorded six new cases, Tzaneen four, Marulng three and Letaba one, in the Mopani district.

Of the 1 720 confirmed cases in the province, 1040 are active cases while 653 people have recovered.
