Covid-19: Polokwane Municipality closes Traffic and Licensing centre and Civic Centre

Both facilities will be closed tomorrow

POLOKWANE – The Traffic Department and Licensing Centre in Ladanna and the Civic Centre in the central business district have been temporarily closed following suspected Covid-19 cases.

In a statement, Thipa Selala, Spokesperson for the Polokwane Municipality says more than two suspected cases of the virus were identified at both sites and in an effort to ensure the safety of it’s employees and visitors to the centres, the municipality will close both centres for disinfection on Tuesday, 7 July.

Customers who in the meantime wish to access traffic and licensing services can still visit the Aganang and Mankweng centres and residents or businesses who need to make payments are advised to use the other available payment platforms such as Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT) and EasyPay at Spar, Pep, Woolworths, Pick n Pay, Shoprite, Checkers and Post Office.

Selala adds that operations at both municipal facilities will resume on Wednesday, 8 July.

“As the Polokwane Municipality we urge all employees and members of the public to observe and practice Covid-19 safety measures; these include the wearing of a face mask at all time, regularly washing hands with soap or sanitiser, social distancing and coughing etiquette,” he concludes.
