Two more Correctional Services officials test positive for Covid-19 in Limpopo

The department currently has a recovery rate of 72,39% from the active cases.

LIMPOPO – The Department of Correctional Services said the number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in the department sits at 2 311. Of the total, 1 084 are officials and 1 227 are inmates.

Correctional Services Spokesperson, Singabakho Nxumalo said in a statement that active cases are at 617 following a recovery rate of 72,39%.

Of the 56 additional cases from officials, six have been recorded at Limpopo, Mpumalanga and North West, while none of the additional 13 cases of inmates are from the region.

Regional Spokesperson, Tshidi Mapole told Review that of the six cases, two of them are from Limpopo at the department’s Modimolle facility.

Only 32 officials and one inmate have tested positive for Covid-19 in the region while there have been three recoveries. No deaths have been recorded in Limpopo, Mpumalanga and North West as of yet.
