POLOKWANE – The Limpopo High Court on Monday, 22 June sentenced two men to life imprisonment for rape.
They were accused of raping a 27-year-old woman in her Seshego home in August 2016.
Wesley Mmola and Ishmael Rasemana, both aged 26, were convicted after the court found that they had entered the victim’s home that evening, threatened her with a firearm and then raped her. They also robbed her of a cellphone, laptop and plasma TV, said Police Spokesperson, Brig Motlafela Mojapelo.

Both men were sentenced to a further 15 years in prison for robbery with aggravating circumstances. These sentences will run concurrently with the life sentences. They were also declared unfit to possess a firearm in terms of Section 103 of the Firearms Control Act, Act 60 of 2000.
Acting Provincial Police Commissioner, Maj Genl Jan Scheepers welcomed the sentences handed down and commended the investigating officer for his sterling investigative work that ensured the accused will spend the rest of their lives in jail.
