Limpopo: Wife granted bail in husband’s murder case

The woman is believed to have stabbed her husband during an altercation.

LIMPOPO – A 42-year-old woman accused of stabbing her husband, resulting in his death during an altercation on 7 June, has been released on bail.

The accused faces a charge of murder and was granted bail of R1 000 by the Bolobedu Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 23 June.

The mother of two was arrested following an incident at Kuranta village outside Kgapane under the Tzaneen Cluster earlier this month where her 43-year-old husband had been fatally stabbed.

Earlier reports revealed that the woman had arrived home at about 21:15, and  found her husband with another woman. An argument ensued between the two women and according to police, when the husband tried to intervene, he was stabbed with a sharp object.

The man was taken to a local clinic where he was certified dead on arrival. The police were summoned and the woman was arrested shortly afterwards.

She is expected to appear again before the same court on 2 October.

The MEC for Social Development, Nkakareng Rakgoale earlier commented on this incident and said gender-based violence has reached another level in the province. She called on couples who are face challenges in their relationships and family unit to seek help at social workers in their area.
