Woman (68) tied up, robbed on farm outside Polokwane

Robbers tied up the woman and threatened her with a knife and firearm.

POLOKWANE – Westenburg police are on the lookout for a group of suspects who committed a house robbery on Friday, 19 June.

A statement by Police Spokesperson, Brig Motlafela Mojapelo says at around 22:00, a 68-year-old woman was at her home at the Kareebosch smallholdings along the N1 road north of Polokwane, when robbers entered her house.

“They threatened her with a knife and firearm and tied her up with cable ties,” Mojapelo said.

He added that the suspects ransacked the house and in the process, robbed the victim of her cellphone, TV, a gas bottle and stove.

“They fled from the scene. The victim managed to untie herself and notified Community Police Forum members who then alerted the police,” Mojapelo said.

Acting Provincial Commissioner, Maj Gen Jan Scheepers instructed that a team be established to track down the suspects and bring them to book.
