According to information from the Transport Department, the man lost control of his vehicle which led to the incident.

LIMPOPO – The MEC for Transport, Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya, conveyed her condolences to the family of Superintendent Maxwell Masipa, who was killed in a vehicle incident on the R71.

Masipa was attached to the National Road Traffic Management Corporation based in Limpopo.

According to preliminary police investigations, the officer lost control of his vehicle, veered off the road and hit a wall. Masipa and a passenger were certified dead on the scene. The incident happened near Makgeng village in Mankweng on Friday, 12 June.

The MEC in a statement says Masipa’s passing has robbed the province of a dedicated officer who took pride in discharging his responsibilities and led by example.

“We worked closely with him on cross-border issues and during departmental events and roadblocks on the various roads of the province. He led by example and executed his responsibilities with diligence and passion.”

She concluded that his passion for the job will be sorely missed by his colleagues at RTMC, the Department of Transport and the entire security cluster where he served with diligence.
