Songs of Hope challenge in support of artists

The campaign, initiated by Raymond Shihawu, aims to support artists who have been adversely affected by the lockdown.

POLOKWANE – The Founder of the Raymond Shihawu Foundation (RSF) and Beyond Entertainment Music (BEM), Raymond Shihawu has launched the #BEMSongsOfHopeChallenge, which is now live on Thundafund.

According to Shihawu, the campaign aims to heal those who are in a state of panic due to the Covid-19 pandemic and encourages participants to create songs of hope of any genre.

He says artists who been adversely affected by the nationwide lockdown and subsequent cancelled tours, festivals, promotional trips and studio sessions, should be supported.

“In the midst of this, musicians have taken to their Instagram accounts and other social media platforms to virtually entertain their fans, which is sad. While we have fun with this challenge, we should try our level best to support our local artists when they do go live,” he said.

To participate in the challenge, simply share your song on social media with the hashtag #BEMSongsOfHopeChallenge. The songs will be released through a special online link and all proceeds will be donated to artists and arts organisations in need of relief, Shihawu added.
