Minister Mthembu gives lockdown level 3 briefing line-up

In a voice clip, he also explained why earlier briefings had been postponed over the last few days.

Jackson Mthembu, Minister of the Presidency and Acting Minister of Communication on Wednesday afternoon explained in a voice clip the reasons for the continued postponements of lockdown level three briefing by various ministers.

On Tuesday evening, President Cyril Ramaphosa announced that government had decided to allow religious gatherings, and with this announcement, according to Mthembu, new regulations had to be drafted to allow  places of worship to operate.

The National Coronavirus Command Council’s briefing would go ahead on Thursday at 14:00, led by Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs Minister, Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma.

This will be followed by the Minister of Police, the Minister of Home Affairs and the Minister of Justice addressing issues regarding the move from level four to level three.

On Friday morning the ministers in the economic cluster will discuss level three regulations in their various clusters and on Friday afternoon the social development clusters will give feedback.

According to Mthembu, the Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture will on Saturday morning speak about what level three entails in this portfolio, while the Minister of Transport will outline regulations in this sector on Saturday afternoon.
