Project 28 000 masks for Cansa

Be spotted in one of the Cansa masks, and you could win great prizes.

POLOKWANE – Wearing a mask has never been as fashionable as it has become during the nationwide lockdown.

And with the mask-making market booming, Corné Marais, Office Manager at Cansa Polokwane, decided to use this as a way to raise money for Cansa through a national project called 28 000 Masks for Charity.

Corné Marais, office Manager at Cansa Polokwane.

“We will be selling each mask at R40 and at the end of the drive we will give away various spot prizes, which include several holiday packages,” she said.

Each mask will be unique, she explains. “At the end of the run we will be visiting places across the country where masks were purchased in bulk. We will than spot people wearing the unique masks, and they will stand a chance to win a prize. A person who orders 20 masks or more will instantly stand a chance to win 30 gigabytes of data valid for 30 days, or various other vouchers.”

Marais added that the local beneficiaries for the project are the Cansa Polokwane Branch and the Tough Living with Cancer Ward at the Pietersburg Provincial Hospital.

This project will also provide work for 31 people, who will make the masks. If you want to donate material or elastic bands, contact Corné at 082 569 0837.
