POLOKWANE – Tlake Rachoene has poetry flowing through his veins.
Rachoene recently released an anthology of poetry that he collected over the years. For Rachoene, poetry is more than just poetry, it is a window to his ideas and views of the world.
He is, however, not only an author, but also an arts and culture practitioner and explained that his book, entitled Bitter Sweat and Sweet Journey relates the challenges of life he encountered.
“What makes this book different is that as an arts and culture practitioner, I am more aware of the cultural aspect of our daily lives, and these are some of the themes that people will see throughout the book.”
He explained that his poetry celebrates the triumph of the human spirit against despair. The book was released in 2018 and it has received raving reviews from poetry lovers.
“The poems in anthology are chronicles of the realm of the struggle for land, power in political sphere, love, romance, education and religion. The depiction of a paradigm shift from Africanism to the Western culture in terms of portrayal of nostalgia with regard to African land, music and loss of hope in contemporary politics, is thick and well-sound,” he said.
