LIMPOPO – The Provincial Police Commissioner, Lt Genl Nneke Ledwaba has welcomed the swift arrest of a 17-year-old boy for the murder of his father this past week.
The teenager was arrested on Sunday evening in Brooklyn, Pretoria in Gauteng a few days after a family member made the gruesome discovery of the body of the 47-year-old Mpho Robert Mohale at Roerfontein Village in Sekgosese on Thursday, 7 May.
Police Spokesperson, Motlafela Mojapelo, a woman had gone to the deceased’s house to look for him when she found his body engulfed in flames and covered with a sheet of corrugated iron. Police were subsequently notified.
Mojapelo said the motive behind the incident is still being investigated but the police have not ruled out domestic violence. The teenager is expected to appear in the Tiyani Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 12 May on a charge of murder.
“The police are working with probation officers in this case and the case docket will be handed over to the Directorate of Public Prosecution for further processing in terms of the Child Justice Act.”
Ledwaba commended the detectives for arresting a suspect within a short space of time and further indicated that the law must take its course.
