[WATCH] Toyota Halfway House donates sanitiser to local taxi association

Toyota Halfway House representative, Sizwe Mahlangu, said it was important for them to give back to the sector during the nationwide lockdown which saw taxis transporting fewer passengers than before.

POLOKWANE – The Limpopo National Taxi Association received a donation of hand sanitiser from Toyota Halfway House today.

The handover was held of the provincial offices of the taxi association. Polokwane Mayor, Thembi Nkadimeng and the Chief Director for the Department of Transport, Elmien Koedyk were also in attendance.

Sizwe Mahlangu, a representative from Toyota Halfway House said the donation came as a token of appreciation for the support the dealership receives from the taxi sector.

“We do not always have to be on the receiving end, now is our time to give,” said Sizwe as he urged taxi operators to support the President, Cyril Ramaphosa and government to assist in the fight against Covid-19.

Koedyk says the department had noted the frustration of taxi operators during the nationwide lockdown, and is working on an assistance programme to address challenges.
“We are aware of the losses you are experiencing due to the reduction in passengers,” she acknowledged.
