Polokwane Muni postpones tender bidding processes

Some contracts were advertised earlier in the year, which would have come to a close in bidding in the months of March and April.

POLOKWANE – The Polokwane Municipality has indefinitely postponed all bid processes, due to the nationwide lockdown due to Covid-19.

All service providers and contractors were informed about the indefinite postponement process, which includes all bids, quotations and database registrations that were advertised during the months of February and March 2020 respectively.

These were supposed to close in March and April 2020 respectively, said Municipal Manager, Dikgape Makobe.

“The indefinite postponement of the bidding process is due to the Covid-19 pandemic which forced the president to place the country under lockdown. Once the lockdown is uplifted, a communiqué will be issued to inform stakeholders of the way forward. The lockdown has restricted Polokwane Municipality from continuing with the normal bidding process.”

He said the municipality will in exceptional cases advertise bids and quotations for projects which are considered to be essential, and for emergency services.

“In this case, the Polokwane Municipality will issue an advertisement and bid documents on its website, its social media pages and the National Treasury e-Tender website to enable the service providers and contractors to access them.”

Enquiries in relation to the bidding information and specifications of the bids to be advertised will be done with the municipal official indicated on the bid document.
