LIMPOPO – A 32-year-old man was arrested at a house in the Tzaneen CBD, thanks to an intelligence-driven joint operation which comprised members of the Tzaneen Crime Intelligence Unit and cluster detectives.
The arrest was made at around 11:20 on 28 April after the man was found in possession of illicit cigarettes and sexual performance enhancing pills.
According to a statement by Police Spokesperson, Brig Motlafela Mojapelo, information was received which led them to a house in the CBD.
“After a search was conducted at the house, 84 boxes containing illicit cigarettes, 1 319 sexual performance enhancing pills and cash of more than R60 000 were recovered. Furthermore, a Ford Ranger, Audi, Chrysler and Hyundai Elantra were confiscated. All the recovered goods are worth over R 1,5 million,” the statement reads.
The man has since appeared in the Tzaneen Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 30 April where he was denied bail and his case was postponed to 7 May for a formal bail application. He faces charges of possession of illicit cigarettes, Contravention of Medicine and Related Substances Control Act and selling of unregistered sexual enhancement medicine.
The police investigations are ongoing.
