4 arrested in possession of dagga worth R50K

Their arrest comes after the police received information about illegal activities being conducted in the Lebowakgomo area

LIMPOPO – Four people were arrested and dagga and several stolen goods recovered during an intelligence-led operation i the Lebowakgomo area on Sunday evening (12 April).

Police Spokesperson, Brig Motlafela Mojapelo says the police received information about illegal activities being conducted in the area and a sting operation which comprised of the Crime Intelligence Unit and crime prevention members from Lebowakgomo was launched. During the operation the police recovered dagga which was packaged in 22 plastic bags and a 50 kg maize meal bag.

Further investigation led to the further discovery of two large plastic bags of dagga found concealed inside a vehicle at the residence of one of the accused. The dagga recovered has the estimated street value of R50 000.

A laptop, three cellphones, a plasma TV, set of speaker, a VW Golf and an undisclosed amount of money found on the scene was also seized during the operation, says Mojapelo.

The accused are expected to appear in the Lebowakgomo Magistrate’s Court on various charges.

The Provincial Police Commissioner, Lt Genl Nneke Ledwaba has welcomed the arrest of the suspects.
