Men from Makhasa arrested for theft

Police Spokesperson, Brig Motlafela Mojapelo said the two may be connected to other similar incidents in this area and across the province.

LIMPOPO – A joint operation comprised of members of the Giyani Crime Intelligence Unit, Hlanganani detectives and Visible Policing in the Hlanganani policing area led to the arrest of two suspects who were in possession of stolen goods. The two, aged 20 and 21, were arrested at their home at Makhasa village on Saturday, 4 April.

According to a statement by Police Spokesperson, Brig Motlafela Mojapelo, the police confiscated various items such as groceries, clothing, perfumes and cigarettes valued at more than R20 000.

“Preliminary investigations linked the suspects to two business burglary incidents committed around the Hlanganani area last month. Further investigations were conducted and the suspects were linked with attempted business robbery around the Zebediela policing precinct,” the statement reads.

Mojapelo added that ongoing investigations will determine where the items were stolen from and that the two may be connected to other similar incidents in this area and across the province.

The two appeared before the Tiyani Magistrate’s Court on 6 April on charges of business burglary and possession of suspected stolen properties. Their cases were postponed to 14 April for formal bail application and further investigations.

Police investigations are still continuing.
