Lockdown: health-related trips are allowed

Go to your appointments, get your medication and go home, says Health MEC, Phophi Ramathuba

POLOKWANE – Health MEC, Phophi Ramathuba once again confirmed that residents in need of chronic medication should rest assured as they will be able to collect medicine.

The national lockdown was announced as a drastic measure in order to curb the spread of Covid-19.

Ramathuba says that as per lockdown regulations, residents are allowed to leave their homes to obtain medicine and they should be able to prove this to law enforcement officers patrolling the roads. “This does not mean they get to linger around. Patients must go to their appointments, get their medication and go home. There should be no detours taken.”

Ramathuba said residents who have appointments or surgeries scheduled in other parts of the country are also permitted to go, under the same conditions.“We do not want the health of our people to deteriorate during this time. All health-related trips are authorised. Residents should note that this is done to ensure their health and they should not take advantage of it.”
