The Capricorn South district received a 75,3 % overall pass percentage during the 2019 National Senior Certificate examinations and celebrated with a prize-giving ceremony, recently hosted at Greenside Primary School.
Hoerskool Noorderland teachers Edward Gentle (Best teacher in Information Technology), Marvellous Mutinhiri (Best teacher in Mathematics literacy) and Principal Thabo Ratema (Top school per circuit and position 8 in Top 10 schools with bachelor passes with 69.9%)
POLOKWANE – Top performing teachers, learners and schools in the district and circuit, who produced excellent results were acknowledged for their hard work. The purpose of the ceremony was to motivate schools, teachers and learners to continue to perform well.
The district has improved from 68,2% in 2018 with Hoërskool Pietersburg reigning as the overall best school in the district and Hoërskool Noorderland as the top school in the Pietersburg circuit. District Director of Capricorn South, Tinkyiko Nkuzana, said she is proud of the achievements of the district, but her proudest isn’t the increase in the pass percentage but more on reducing the number of underperforming circuits.
She added that although they are not where they would like to be yet, she is happy with the progress which is a collective effort and hard work of various stakeholders within Capricorn South district.
