Sasol is urging students who are currently in matric to consider studying STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) subjects at Universities.
The international chemicals and energy company is providing all-inclusive bursaries to support students who choose this path.
The company says if matriculants are not sure whether a STEM course is right for them, they must consider the benefits of the course such as the increased demand for STEM skills and, particularly in South Africa where there is a scarcity of these skills available.
Matebello Motloung, Specialist for Media Relations at Sasol was quoted to have said: “With technology becoming more and more advanced and changing our daily lives, acquiring STEM skills will allow you to be a part of this and give you a better understanding of the world around you, as well as equip them for the 4th Industrial Revolution of where to work, and in which market.”
She added that Sasol relies heavily on STEM graduates, and is committed in helping. “Not only does the Sasol bursary programme cover the costs of your studies and living expenses, bursars also have the opportunity to be part of the Sasol Graduate Development Programme, which will provide you with on-the-job training at Sasol upon completion of your studies. If you want to pursue a degree in STEM, apply now for a Sasol bursary. The deadline for applications is 30 April 2020.
