Relief for Curro Heuwelkruin: Test results negative for Covid-19

Curro Holdings is pleased to confirm that the Covid-19 test results of the Curro Heuwelkruin learner and parents have come back negative.

POLOKWANE – This is according to Mari Lategan, Executive Marketing and Communications of Curro Holdings

“The test results fortunately brought relief to the school and its community,” she said.

On Thursday, Curro Holdings issued a statement on Thursday, after a precautionary letter was sent by Curro Heuwelkruin to parents of the Gr 10 class.

In the statement, Curro Holdings confirmed that one of the parents of a Gr 10 learner had been in contact with the first person in the province to have contracted Covid-19 (Coronavirus).
The learner attended school up until last week Monday.

All parents of the Gr 10 class were urged to follow stringent protocol.

All learners and teachers who had contact with the learner had to go into self-isolation until the results of the tests were known.

The school’s Headmaster, Eben Lingenfelder, confirmed the test results in a letter to parents yesterday, thanking them for their patience and understanding in the last few days.

POLOKWANE – Curro Holdings issued a statement earlier today, after a precautionary letter was sent out to parents of the Gr 10 class at Curro Heuwelkruin.

In the statement, Curro Holdings confirmed that one of the parents of a Gr 10 learner had been in contact with the first person in the province to have contracted COVID-19 (Corona virus).

The learner attended school up until Monday.

The parents and learner, who were all tested for the virus, are currently in self-quarantine. The results of the tests will be available in the next two days.

Mari Lategan, Executive Marketing and Communications of Curro Holdings, in a statement said the letter was sent to specific parents as a precautionary measure.

“For this reason, Heuwelkruin advised all parents of the Gr 10 class to follow stringent protocol. All learners and teachers who had contact with the learner should go into self-isolation until the results of the tests are known. If the learner tests positive, learners from the Gr 10 class must go into self-isolation for at least 14 days.

“If any of the symptoms are experienced, a doctor should be consulted immediately and the learner tested, with Curro being notified if the results are positive.”

Curro assures all parents and learners that the safety of learners and staff remains their utmost priority as they continue to monitor the situation, Lategan said.

The Group is also continuing to keep abreast of all relevant news sources and alerts issued by the Department of Health as well as the Department of Education. The Group has implemented stringent hygiene and health safety measures across all their schools to work towards curbing any possible transmission.

“Curro learners and staff are urged to remain sensible and safe during this period while they monitor their health accordingly.

“Proper sanitation should be practised at all times. Curro has partnered with a medical practitioner, Dr Schalk Burger, for regular health and safety tips for the Curro family. Follow him on YouTube,” Lategan concluded.
