Having settled in at Protea Hotel Ranch Resort following their return from Wuhan in China, the evacuees penned down a letter to thank the crew for getting them home safely.
Some 114 South African nationals were brought back to the country amid the Coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak in China and are currently in quarantine at the resort. Reportedly the team that finally executed the mission was made up of 18 crew members, 14 medical experts and three embassy representatives. It was learnt that the group would be taken care of at the hospitality venue for 21 days with both the military and Police deployed on site.
A letter shared on the National Health Insurance’s social media platform reads: “Thank you. On behalf of evacuees can’t thank you enough for taking this beautiful huge risk. I’m sure some of your families disagreed with your decision but regardless of that you came to fetch us. I personally don’t have words to thank all of you. We may not be able to pay you back for this but there’s someone above us who sees your work and bless you abundantly. We’re really happy to be home [sic].”
