‘Business as usual’ at Polokwane traffic department

POLOKWANE – With the implementation of precautionary measures at municipal entities in an effort to combat the spread of corona virus (COVID-19), the municipality will limit the number of people that can enter municipal facilities at a time. This after the President of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, on Sunday declared a national state of disaster in terms of the Disaster Management Act.

Review has received countless queries on whether the Traffic Department and licensing centre in Ladanna is open and will render all services.

Municipal Spokesperson, Thipa Selala confirmed to Review that all services will still be rendered. “The department will however control the number of people that enter the facility. This means that only 20 people will be assisted at a time.”

He further added that it will be business as usual in terms of the services. They have, as of yesterday, also put up hand-sanitising stations at the facility for employees and visitors.

Basic protective steps as recommended by World Health Organisation (WHO), to help prevent the spread of the virus:
• Wash hands frequently;
• Maintain social distancing;
• Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth;
• Practice respiratory hygiene; and
• If you have fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical care early, among others
