When tabling the budget in the Legislative chamber on Tuesday, Provincial Treasury MEC Sea­paro Sekoati reported that the provincial expenditure grows from R69,5 billion in 2019/20 to R72,8 billion in 2020/21.
In his budget speech, Sekoati highlighted that the Department of Education is allocated a budget of R33,9 billion, Department of Health receives an allocation of R22,1 billion, Department of Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure receives a budget allocation of R3,9 billion while the Department of Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs is allocated R2,5 billion with the Department of Social Development receiving a budget of R2,4 billion in the 2020/21 financial year.
Sekoati went on to indicate that the Department of Transport and Community Safety is allocated R2,4 billion, Department of Agriculture and Rural Development will receive R2,0 billion, Department of Economic Development, Environment and Tourism is given R1,7 billion, Department of Sport, Arts and Culture gets R524,9 million, Provincial Treasury gets R521,3 million while the Office of the Premier receives R450,2 million and the Provincial Legislature gets R385,1 million in the 2020/21 financial year.
