Boy Mamabolo allegedly misses court due to illness

After the Seshego Magistrates’ Court authorised a warrant of arrest for the African National Congress parliamentarian Boy Mamabolo for his failure to appear before the court on Friday, Mamabolo informed Polokwane Observer on Tuesday afternoon that he had been booked off by a medical practitioner and that he had submitted a sick note to the court.
Mamabolo, who was expected to appear before court with Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Provincial Leader Jossey Buthane, Alfred Magongoa, Obakeng Makhura, EFF councillor Oupa Ramaphoko and Motladi Puxley Setsiba on charges relating to malicious damage to property and theft, went on to indicate that the warrant of arrest was not immediate.
According to him, the sick note was submitted to the court two days prior the appearance date and he indicated that he had been booked off for the whole of last week. Mamabolo concluded by saying he would appear in court with the group on 5 May. Buthane, Magongoa, Makhura and Ramaphoko are facing charges of attempted murder, theft, assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm and kidnapping.
Another accused, identified by the court as Hansie Makhanya, also appeared before court and was released on free bail. Buthane, Magongoa, Makhura, Setsiba and Ramaphoko were released on extended bail. The group is expected back in the Seshego Magistrates’ Court on 5 May 2020.
