The Art Bank of South Africa Art Exhibition opened in the Polokwane Art Museum in Library Gardens last Thursday evening and art works of more than 70 South African artists will be on display until 2 August.
Thato Motana, Tshikuve Azwimpheleli and Takalani Legege are the three Limpopo artists featured in the exhibition. One of the eye-catching works of art on display is ‘Young Mandela’ executed in beads, wood and string by Morgan Mahape.

According to Curator of the Polokwane Art Museum, Amos Letsoalo, the Art Bank of South Africa is a national programme of the Department of Arts and Culture and part of the Mzansi Golden Economy (MGE) strategy implementation that is hosted by the National Museum in Bloemfontein.
The Art Bank of South Africa is tasked with purchasing art works from South African artists and in particular those of emerging artists that are in turn leased and sold to government departments, private companies and art collectors.
The Art Bank of South Africa promotes financial stability for artists and nurturs emerging South African artists by expanding the market for their work and providing skills development opportunities and aims to foster an appreciation for contemporary art by making art accessible to the broader public.
