The Department of Transport recently announced toll free increases for major routes in South Africa. We break down the toll fees for you from Polokwane to Pretoria which will come into effect on 1 March.

POLOKWANE – Toll fees are applied to maintain, operate and improve toll roads as well as to service debt acquired through the implementation of toll road projects. The Transport Minister, Fikile Mbalula, approved the toll tariffs as part of the annual tariff adjustments.

But how does it affect our readers? Many motorists make use of the N1 between Polokwane and Pretoria on a daily basis.

We break down the tolls for you.

A round trip in a class 1 vehicle from Polokwane to Pretoria, moving through the four main toll gates; Nyl, Kranskop, Carousel and Pumulani, that usually cost motorists R342 will now cost R355.

The new toll tariffs will come into operation on 1 March and will be applicable until 28 February 2021.
