POLOKWANE – Motorists and residents should take note of the planned road closures in the central business district (CBD) due to the State of the Province Address (SOPA) ceremony.
The following streets will be closed from 05:00 for the duration of the ceremony.
• Church between Thabo Mbeki and Rabe;
• Rabe between General Joubert and Market;
• Bodenstein between Landros Mare and Paul Kruger;
• Market between Bodenstein and Rabe; and
• General Joubert between Bodenstein and Rabe.
Additional streets will be closed between 10:00 – 11:00.
• Biccard from Bodenstein to Thabo Mbeki; and
• Thabo Mbeki from Biccard to Church
Thipa Selela, Spokesperson for the Polokwane Municipality says street demonstrations will commence at 09:00 from SABC Park via Landdros Maré Street, right on to Bodenstein Street until Jack Botes Hall.
“The Visitor Information Centre (VIC) next to Jack Botes Hall will also be affected as there will be no parking on the day. However, visitors to the centre can make a walk-in.”
The municipality urges motorists, businesses and visitors to be patient and to use alternative routes during the proceedings of the ceremony and to adhere to the traffic instructions given by the law enforcement officers,” Selela concludes.
