Premier hands over 13 new Great North Transport (GNT) buses to operators

Stanley Mathabatha added that they expect the other 62 buses to arrive in the coming weeks.

POLOKWANE – Limpopo Premier, Stanley Mathabatha officiated at the handover of 13 new Great North Transport (GNT) buses to operators this morning.

The handover took place at the Limpopo Economic Development Agency (LEDA) offices in Platinum Street, Ladine.

Mathabatha said in his address that without these buses, a lot of people will be unable to report for work and boost sectors of our economy.

“Great North Transport is therefore a great player in the economy. They are a people’s company, 100% owned by government, who places the social economic interest of clients above profit. We as government are committed to work with Great North Transport to resolve some of the company’s issues such as their liquidity problems.”

He said they believe “effective, sufficient and reliable public transport is a necessary precondition for economic development”.

Mathabatha added that they expect the other 62 buses to arrive in the coming weeks.
