#WFD – Cincinatti Chilli

Chilli is famous for being a popular American dish and is usually served with spaghetti or on a fresh bun.

POLOKWANE – While most people think that ‘chilli’ is something you place is dishes to add heat and spice but ‘Chilli’ is also a dish.

Popular in America, Chilli or ‘Chilli con carne’ is a spicy stew containing chilli peppers, meat (usually beef), and often tomatoes and beans. Other seasonings may include garlic, onions, and cumin.

Ingredients

  1. 30ml vegetable oil
  2. 1 x onion, chopped
  3. 2 x cloves garlic, crushed
  4. 500g lean beef mince
  5. 10ml chilli powder
  6. 10ml Robertsons Cumin
  7. 5ml allspice, ground
  8. 5ml Robertsons Cinnamon
  9. 1ml Robertsons Cloves
  10. 1 x 400g tin tomatoes, chopped
  11. 1 x KNORR Beef Stock Pot
  12. 200ml water

Method

  1. Heat the oil in a large saucepan. Add the onions and cook for 4-5 minutes, until the onions soften but do not brown. Add the garlic and cook for a further 3 minutes.
  2. Add the beef mince, stir well and cook for 3-4 minutes until the mince starts to brown. Add chilli powder, cumin, allspice, cinnamon and cloves, cook for a further 2-3 minutes on medium heat.
  3. Add the tomatoes, Knorr Beef Stock Pot and water. Bring to the boil and then simmer on low heat for about 20-30 minutes until the sauce is thick and glossy with a deeply aromatic smell.
