Two dead in head-on collision on R71 outside Polokwane

The collision happened on Monday morning

POLOKWANE – Two people died and two left injured after a light delivery vehicle and a sedan collided on the R71 near Orange Groove on Monday at around 06:20.

According to a report issued by Joel Seabi, Spokesperson for the MEC of Transport and Community Safety, it is alleged the two vehicles collided head-on after one of the drivers lost control of their vehicle. A man and a woman, both in their 40s, from the LDV died on the scene. Two others from the sedan sustained serious injuries and were taken to hospitals in Polokwane for medical treatment.

The exact cause of the incident will form part of a police investigation, but speeding has not been ruled out.

The road between Mankweng and Polokwane is open.
