Each time Kamogelo Raphahlele prepares a meal, she aims for a tasty outcome
The 24-year-old says her aim is to show that one can eat healthy and have a delicious meal - healthy food is not constrained to a mundane Greek salad
POLOKWANE – The 24-year-old is the proud owner of the Good Food Experience, a mobile kitchen which she runs from home in Seshego zone 5 and says she invests in her business full-time, because she believes in making a success of it.
Kamogelo holds a diploma in public relations and is currently studying towards a security management qualification, but she says her devotion to her side hustle is becoming bigger. Having worked at a security company, Kamogelo says her business became bigger than what was initially planned.
“When you have a passion for something and you put energy into it, it ends up being successful and that’s why it’s easy for me to focus all my attention on my business. I put in all my knowledge and abilities into my cooking.”
For Kamogelo, making food is more than just simply cooking but rather, a conduit for her to let her artistic side come out to play and draws inspiration from former Sport, Arts and Culture MEC and chef, Onicca Moloi.
“Seafood is my favourite because of the flavours and taste. My dad would always bring home different ingredients and encourage me to cook and taste them,” she says.
Kamogelo currently has two menus: one with nutritional value and one for those who like to indulge.
She told BONUS that her menu aims to show that one can eat healthy and have a delicious meal, saying healthy food is not constrained to a mundane Greek salad.
“I buy fresh ingredients daily as I don’t like storing them in the fridge. I want my customers to know that they have a fresh, healthy meal in front of them.”
Kamogelo offers weekly meals at R300, every day is a different meal.
“I am planning to open a green bar where people can come and enjoy healthy meals. People need to open their minds to nutrition,” she explained. She says one of the best feelings is seeing someone completely satisfied and delighted with her cooking.
“It is amazing how food brings everyone together.”.
