#WFD – Southern Fried Chicken

Serve with a choice of salad or vegetables.

POLOKWANE – Fried chicken is a dish consisting of chicken pieces usually from broiler chickens which have been floured or battered and then pan-fried, deep fried, or pressure fried. The breading adds a crisp coating or crust to the exterior.

“Make your own southern fried chicken by using a dry garlic sauce, black pepper, buttermilk and eggs,” says What’s for Dinner.

Ingredients

  1. 3 cup flour
  2. 1 x KNORR Creamy Garlic Sauce
  3. 3 tbsp coarse black pepper, ground
  4. 2 eggs
  5. 4 cup buttermilk
  6. 1 cup KNORR Braai bottle Sauce
  7. 2 tbsp worcestershire sauce
  8. 10 chicken pieces
  9. 2 cup oil (for frying)

Method

  1. In a large shallow dish, mix together flour, Knorr Creamy Garlic Instant Sauce and black pepper.
  2. In a separate bowl, beat eggs, then whisk in buttermilk, KNORR Braai Sauce and Worcestershire sauce.
  3. Dredge chicken in milk mixture, then in seasoned flour, alternating in each at least twice.
  4. Heat oil in a large pot.
  5. Deep fry chicken in hot oil until golden brown on both sides, about 10 minutes each side until cooked.
  6. Serve with a choice of salad or vegetables.
