Local business partners want to give back to community

Reneilwe Makgoba says there are too many girls who miss out on school a couple of days every month because they can not afford sanitary towels.

POLOKWANE- KR Investments, founded by Kabelo Kgahla and Reneilwe Makgoba, wants to donate reusable sanitary pads to needy girls. They aim to help schools by conducting infrastructure audits and renovating the premises based on the audit findings. The pair says they do this to improve the quality of education offered at school.

Reneilwe says that they would like to help give back to the community through a sanitary drive. Reneilwe says there are too many girls who miss out on school a couple of days every month because they can not afford sanitary towels. She says this is something that should have been prioritised by the government.

She says they have approached a company that manufactures reusable sanitary towels and have gotten into agreement with them on buying the towels in bulk for distribution. She says this initiative is just a manner in which they want to give back to the communities they serve.

“Instead of doing it with disposable sanitary towels, we thought it would be better to use reusable as they last longer.”

She says the towels can last up to five years if they are used properly. Reneilwe says that the sanitary towels come in a package set with the necessary stuff to clean then before re-use.

She says that this is done to ensure that everything stays hygienic and does not tamper with the health of the young ladies. Reneilwe says the duo still needs help to implement this initiative because the set of pads is a bit more expensive compared to the disposable ones.

She says they would appreciate anyone who will be able to help by donating a set or money in order to help more disadvantaged young girls. She says that the help does not have to be in the form of money and anyone who is interested, can contact them at krinvestment@webmail.com.
