Limpopo police lauds long jail terms imposed by various courts across the province

LIMPOPO – The South African Police Service in Limpopo are happy with the long jail terms imposed by various courts across the province.

This after the Giyani Magistrate’s Court sentenced the 27-year-old Theophelus Baloyi to 40 years’ imprisonment.

According to a report by Police Spokesperson Moatshe Ngoepe, Baloyi was arrested in 2016. He allegedly raped his first victim, a 14-year-old girl, on 27 April 2014 and his second victim, a 17-year-old, in 2016.

The cases were opened and assigned to Det Const Conny Mabunda from the SAPS Giyani’s Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit.

Baloyi , from Ribungwani village in the Hlanganani policing area outside Giyani, was sentenced to 20 years’ imprisonment without a fine for each case.

Lt Gen Nneke Ledwaba, the Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo, is pleased by the sentence and praised the Mabunda for her tireless work of ridding the society of this criminal.
