POLOKWANE – Kebab dishes consist of cut up or ground meat or seafood, sometimes with fruits and vegetables, which are cooked on a skewer over a fire, baked in a pan in an oven, or as a stew and served with various accompaniments according to each recipe.

Ingredients

  1. 1 onion, finely chopped
  2. oil
  3. 600g beef or chicken mince
  4. worcestershire sauce (to taste)
  5. 30ml KNORR Tasty Hearty Beef Soup with Robertsons Steak & Chop Spice
  6. 1 clove garlic, crushed
  7. 1 egg, beaten
  8. 25ml coriander, chopped
  9. salt and pepper (to season)
  10. 250g streaky bacon

Method

  1. Mix all the ingredients, except the bacon, to make the meatballs
  2. Shape the mince mixture into small rounds and wrap one rasher of bacon around each ball
  3. Thread 3-4 balls onto each skewer
  4. Reapeat until all the ingredients are used up
  5. Cook in the oven on a baking tray at 180°C or on the braai until cooked through
  6. Serve with a basil mash made up of creamy mashed potato with 1 tablespoon of finely chopped basil or pesto sauce
