Taxila blood donations stream in

With 20 more donations than the set target, Taxila Secondary School's first blood donation for the year was a success.

POLOKWANE – Hosted at the school on Thursday, 30 January, the school had a target of 49 donations for the day, in order to help the South African National Blood Service (SANBS) reach their targets for the amount of blood needed to save lives. Taxila ended the day on 69 with many more learners queuing to donate more. BONUS spoke to Faizaan Mahomed who received a special prize for having donated a total of nine times.

Khutso Mokgalaka, McGlashan Moon, Adil Ghisa, Muhanned Tilly and Faizaan Mahomed donate blood at Taxila Secondary School.

Faizaan says he has been donating blood since 2016 and says he learnt the importance of it after needing a blood transfusion due to an iron deficiency he had. “That experience highlighted the need to donate regularly and I do not just donate at school, but outside of school as well. I usually donate with my brother and I will continue to donate for as long as I can.”
