Department of Transport warns of job scam

A job scam which solicits money from unsuspecting job seekers has been doing the rounds in Lebowakgomo and surrounding areas.

LIMPOPO – According to a statement issued by the Department of Transport, the scam urges job seekers to deposit an amount of R1 500 into an account in exchange for a job as a traffic official within the department.

The scammer goes under the name of Mr Munyai, Lebowakgomo Head of Traffic.

“We put it on record that the department has not advertised any traffic officer posts and as well are not a recruitment drive for new traffic officers,” says spokesperson, Joel Seabi.

He adds that recruitment processes are handled openly through the government and that the department would never require or accept any monetary or related costs for jobs.

The department urges the anyone who encounters such job scams to immediately report it to the police.
