53-year-old killed in accident on R521 just outside Polokwane

Police are investigating a case of drunken driving.

POLOKWANE – One driver lost his life in an accident on the R521 (Mogwadi road) just outside Polokwane on Monday, 27 January at around 15:30. According to the accident report provided by the Department of Transport a Toyota sedan and Toyota light duty vehicle (LDV) collided.

The driver of the Toyota LDV allegedly lost control of the vehicle and collided with oncoming traffic. The vehicle left the road and overturned and as a result killed the driver (53) on the scene.

The driver and one passenger in the sedan was taken to the Seshego Hospital with injuries.

The Westenburg police are investigating a possible case of drunken driving.

According to one of the bystanders on the scene, it was a “shocking experience to realise that a person died there just minutes ago”.

“Perhaps he had family waiting for him, perhaps he had work people waiting for him and he will never make it there. They will never see him again. It makes you think about how things change in the blink of an eye and that you can never take back somethings or go back and do them. Makes you live in every moment because the next one is not promised,” the women told Review.
