Seshego unrest: Buthane, Mamabolo back in court in March as residents vow to ensure order
Provincial Chairperson of the EFF, Jossey Buthane, ANC MP, Boy Mamabolo and local resident Motladi Setsiba were arrested on charges related to theft and malicious damage to property
POLOKWANE – This follows incidents of mob justice in Seshego on Sunday, 12 January where residents and members from political parties rallied together to hunt down those responsible for the murder of Thoriso Kgomo and in the common pursuit of ridding the area of criminal aspects and gangsters.
During this incident property was torched and family members of suspected gangsters were threatened and in other instances, those suspected of being gang members, were beaten up. Six suspected gang members were also handed over to the police.

The trio, Buthane, Mamabolo and Setsiba were arrested on Monday, 13 January and appeared in the Seshego Magistrate’s Court on the4 same day. They were granted bail of R500 each and their cases were postponed to 6 March pending investigation.
Following the unrest, MEC for Community Safety Dickson Masemola called a meeting on Tuesday evening but was chased away by the residents who demanded an apology from the police for the arrest of their leaders.
According to reports, the community plans to meet again on Sunday to continue its pursuit of the gang members and suspected criminals in Seshego.
