[WATCH] Enough is enough: Seshego residents take action

One of the hideouts where the gang reportedly hide stolen goods has been burnt down. 

POLOKWANE – Members of the Seshego community have rallied together to fight crime and gangsterism in the Seshego area. The group got together this morning in zone 3 at 10:00 and various political parties have joined forces to put their differences aside and work towards the greater good of the community.

The group walked to places identified as areas where the gangs operate of which one is a fueling station where illegals dealings reportedly takes place.

The group also went to the houses of the gang members and found one of the sisters of one of the gang members who joined the group to identify other houses where members live. Upon arrival at one of the houses, one of the suspects reportedly ran away.

Three members have thus far been caught and have also helped to identify other gang members. The rally follows after the 19-year-old Thoriso Kgomo was stabbed to death on New Year’s Evening.

One of the hideouts where the gang reportedly hide stolen goods has been burnt down. The Eff’s Provincial chairperson, Jossey Buthane thanked everyone for their help and that they have managed to catch six suspects who have been handed over to the police.

He also said that due to members of the group drinking publicly, they have decided to cut the day short.

Meanwhile, the Transport and Community Safety MEC in Limpopo, Namane Dickson Masemola has condemned the crimes and has urged the police, community and stakeholders to work  together to fight crime in the area.

Following the subsequent community uproar and torching of property, the MEC and the Provincial Police Commissioner, Lt. Gen. Nneke Ledwaba will engage with the residents on Tuesday, 14 January at 18:00. The meeting will take place at  CM Sehlapelo High School in Seshego zone 3 and all residents are encouraged to attend.
