Four arrested for house robbery and attempted murder on farm in Limpopo

The suspects have also been linked to a burglary incident which occurred in December 2019 in which 11 firearms were stolen. 

LIMPOPO – Four suspects have been arrested for a house robbery and attempted murder case which took place on Tuesday, 7 January on a farm under the Waterpoort policing area.

The incident on the farm  saw three suspects armed with firearms, allegedly attack farm workers at around 01:00. One of the employees were allegedly shot and injured. The three suspects managed to escape arrest and fled the scene in the farm owner’s Toyota Land Cruiser. They abandoned the vehicle which was already loaded with a stolen fan, grinder, welding machine, flat screen TV, two blankets, two chargers and 20 solar panel batteries.

The police managed to arrest two of the suspects, aged 25 and 40, at around 17:00 on the same day thanks to the assistance of the rural safety stakeholders. They appeared in the Louis Trichardt Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 9 January on charges of attempted murder, house robbery, unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition and possession of suspected stolen properties.

The other two suspects, aged 27 and 43, were arrested yesterday, 9 January in Tshikota township on the outskirts of Louis Trichardt. This was thanks to an intelligence driven operation to catch suspects involved in a house robbery and attempted murder cases. They will appear in the same court on the same charges on Monday, 13 January.

Some of the items recovered following the arrest included firearms, live ammunition, magazines, cellphones, a plasma TV, a camera, bicycle, microwave, grinders, welding machines and a music system.

The suspects have also been linked to a burglary incident which occurred in December 2019 in which 11 firearms were stolen.

Members of SAPS and the Rural Safety fraternity were some of the people applauded by the Provincial Commissioner of Limpopo, Lt Gen Nneke Ledwaba, for a “well coordinated operation which led to this breakthrough”.

Police investigations are still ongoing.
