Police are investigating a case of murder and registered an inquest docket following the discovery of the body of a 30-year-old nurse in a pool of blood and that of her alleged partner hanging from the rafters of a house at Mahlasedi village in the Tom Burke area last Thursday.
According to Provincial Police Communications Head Motlafela Mojapelo the bodies were discovered by a neighbour at about 14:30. Police were immediately informed and preliminary investigations revealed that the woman had been stabbed several times. The blood stained murder weapon was found next to her body, Mojapelo remarked.
Inquest investigations regarding the deceased found hanging from a roof beam are ongoing in order to determine the cause of death.
The motive for this incident is unknown at this stage but domestic violence cannot be ruled out, according to Mojapelo. People are advised to seek professional assistance when faced with domestic or relationship challenges and desist from resorting to violence, he added.
