Give a Child a Book initiative has education at heart

Residents are urged to drop off old or unused books

POLOKWANE – Founders and organisers of the Give a Child a Book initiative,  Fanessa Makhongela and Thabiso Molokomme want to hand over 600 books to disadvantaged schools this year and urge local residents to help them make this dream come true.

Residents are urged to donate storybooks, study guides, textbooks, stationery and any other study materials that think of which can aid the learning process for children at disadvantaged schools in and around the city.

The team explained that they selected schools with the Polokwane circuit because they want to work with learners that come from a disadvantaged backgrounds, because that is where the need for the study material lies.

We noticed a gap in our province as we were always rated as the lowest performing province(Limpopo) and we brought forth this initiative to help local learners succeed.”

Those interested in making a donation can visit them at the Library Gardens (outside the library) tomorrow 10 January.
