Man (30) linked to 15 cases of rape to appear in court

Provincial Commissioner of Limpopo, Lt Gen Nneke Ledwaba has commended the police for their hard work to rid the streets of another 'heartless' criminal.

LIMPOPO – The South African Police Service in Limpopo have arrested a 30-year-old man who is believed to have terrorised communities in Mokopane and Mahwelereng in Limpopo as well as Jabulani and Naledi in Gauteng.

The man, who has been linked with four cases of robberies and 15 cases of rape committed over the span of seven years between 2011 and 2018, was arrested in Mokopane on Monday, 6 January. He is set to appear in the Mokopane Magistrate’s Court today, Wednesday 8 January.

The man is alleged to have broken into houses while his victims were asleep, threaten and then rape them according to Police Spokesperson, Brig Motlafela Mojapelo.

The investigative work done by members of SAPS, especially those from the Serial and Electronic Crimes Investigation (SECI) and the Investigative Psychology Unit (IPU), has been recognised by the Provincial Commissioner of Limpopo, Lt Gen Nneke Ledwaba.

“Their efforts in putting this alleged serial rapist behind bars have surely gotten rid of a heartless criminals who was apparently hellbent on instilling fear in the minds of many women,” Ledwaba concluded.
