[TAKE NOTE] Muni advises residents, businesses to pay bills elsewhere

Protest action outside the Civic Centre has resulted in all municipal operations and services being disrupted.

POLOKWANE – This after members of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) joined members of the South African National Civic Organisation (Sanco) in demand that allegations of nepotism within the Polokwane Municipality are addressed.

Members stormed the centre and blocked the entrance on Monday, 6 January demanding clarity on the recent employment of  around 146 general workers.

Municipal Spokesperson, Thipa Selala has since issued a notice where he advises all residents and businesses to use other available platforms to pay their municipal bills during this period.

Payments of municipal services can be done at the following outlets: Pick n Pay;  Shoprite/Checkers; Woolworths and through electronic funds transfer (EFT).
Prepaid water and electricity can be purchased at either Savannah Mall, Spar shops, 7/11 shop on Marshall street and through cellphones.
He adds that those who need assistance with water smart meters, to contact 087 350 2770; standby on conventional meters at 083 301 3738 and 083 673 3238 while standby on prepaid for Seshego is 081 716 1343 and Town is 081 747 0878.

The municipality will provide updates in terms of operations, he concludes.
